Welcome to the Cotta farm homepage
Our farm is a family-run business located in Pantasina, in the Ligurian hinterland, in the province of Imperia. For five generations our family has dedicated itself to the cultivation of olives and the production of extra virgin olive oil. Already our grandparents Violante and Raffaele Cotta in the Thirties devoted themselves to the olive harvest in the winter and to the cultivation of lavender in the summer.
The activity
The activity is carried out by their only son Giuseppe who in 1980 decides to start with the stone olives mill that is still working today in the company. In 1997 the Farm Stay business started with the restructuring of the “Il Roccolo” Farm Stay, bought by his grandfather Raffaele in 1935 from a noble family of the area.
Since 2003 the company decides to switch to organic farming and obtains the Organic Certification from Bioagricert. In 2010 we decided to further enhance the production of lavender essential oil and decided to diversify the production by creating the Essensè Biocosmesi brand, the line of organic cosmetics produced with our organic olive oil and our lavender essential oil.
In 2011 the agritourism expands with the construction of Casa Lavanda and the swimming pool.
In 2014 the cosmetic laboratory is expanded with the purchase of an advanced Dumek turbo emulsifier.
In addition to lavender we also plant Centifoglia Roses, Rosemary, Clary Sage and Helichrysum, which can be used in our cosmetic products. Currently the company is managed by our father Giuseppe and by us: Simona and Monica.
